Teachers / Counselors
One of the most important things you do is show your students what's possible ... in their lives ... and in themselves. ASSESS helps you provide guidance to all students about the possibilities and rewards of a career in engineering — one of the most sought-after fields in the global economy. ASSESS is an evaluation tool that helps students learn if engineering is right for them and, if it is, how they can prepare for future study in their chosen field.
Read below to learn how each section of ASSESS can help you guide your students.
Explore
This ASSESS section shows students how their interests align with various engineering disciplines, and how they can turn their interests (whether in math or science, sports or art) into a rewarding college experience and a lucrative career. By introducing more than 20 engineering specialties, ASSESS challenges students to see beyond traditional ideas about engineering and uncover their potential careers. Click here to learn more.
ASSESS
The assessment section covers mathematical reasoning, science reading and reasoning, and practical understanding and is designed to help students identify strengths and weaknesses in these areas, which are important for an engineering degree. ASSESS' comprehensive solution manual enables you and your students to immediately evaluate their scores and gain insight on how to turn identified academic weaknesses into developed strengths. ASSESS also offers helpful tips on next steps, including what courses students should take to prepare for higher academic study.
Experience
Taking discovery to the next step, JETS helps high school students experience "the real world" of engineering through JETS educational programs and academic competitions, including the popular TEAMS competition, the National Engineering Design Challenge (NEDC), UNITE, and our free monthly e-newsletter, the Pre-Engineering Times.
