Parents
Help your child learn about and prepare for a possible career in engineering, one of the most sought-after and creative fields in today's — and tomorrow's — economy. ASSESS helps high school students — and their parents — make informed decisions about engineering careers and the academic preparation it takes to pursue one. ASSESS helps you work through the decision process with your child and guide him or her into their future.
Read below to learn how each section of ASSESS can help you guide your child.
Explore
This ASSESS section shows students how their interests align with various engineering disciplines, and how they can turn their interests (whether in math or science, sports or art) into a rewarding college experience and a lucrative career. By introducing more than 20 engineering specialties, ASSESS challenges your child to see beyond traditional ideas about engineering and uncover his/her potential.
ASSESS
The assessment section covers mathematical reasoning, science reading and reasoning, and practical understanding. It's designed to help your child identify strengths and weaknesses in these areas, which are important for an engineering degree. ASSESS' comprehensive solution manual enables you and your child to immediately evaluate his/her scores and gain insight on how to turn identified academic weaknesses into developed strengths. ASSESS also offers helpful tips on next steps, including what courses to take to prepare for higher academic study.
Experience
Taking discovery to the next step, JETS helps high school students experience "the real world" of engineering through JETS educational programs and academic competitions, including the popular TEAMS competition, the National Engineering Design Challenge (NEDC), UNITE, and our free monthly e-newsletter, the Pre-Engineering Times.
