FAQs
What does ASSESS measure?
The assessment section is designed to help students identify their strengths and weakness in three important subject areas related to engineering:
mathematical reasoning,
science reading and reasoning, and
practical understanding. The questions posed generally cover topics taught in grades 9-12.
ASSESS is intended to help students understand where they are academically in these subject areas and make adjustments, if necessary, to properly prepare for higher academic study.
How does a student take ASSESS? Can it be taken more than once?
Students take the assessment individually. It can be taken alone, at the students' convenience, or through a program offered at a high school, local college or university, or professional organization.
ASSESS can be taken more than once during high school to gauge academic progress.
How long does it take to get results of the assessment?
The results are instant. JETS provides a scoring guide included in the booklet complete with short and explanatory answers so students can score their work immediately upon completing the assessment. The students' results may offer more insight when shared with an engineer, teacher or school counselor who can offer additional advice.
