As the supply of natural materials declines, these engineers look to develop new methods of producing these materials. Developing materials that can withstand higher temperatures and corrosive environments in advanced power generation technologies such as coal gasifiers, turbines, combustor, and fuel cells are vital to higher performance and more economic fossil energy systems.
