What Do Engineers Do?

Biomedical Engineering

Through the application of physics, chemistry, mathematics, and engineering, biomedical engineers produce solutions to important biological and medical problems. Biomedical engineers are responsible for breakthroughs and innovations such as the design and development of implantable or indwelling devices, including orthopedic, cardiac, endovascular, drug-delivery, and cell-and-tissue engineered systems. Patients who benefit from an artificial organ or a prosthetic limb have biomedical engineers to thank.
