Why?
Why Coach?
TEAMS offers educators a fresh way to engage students in math, science, and technical subjects. TEAMS answers that question plaguing all teachers, "when will I ever use this?" by showing students the real-world applications of knowledge learned in your classroom. TEAMS can help:
- Bring math and science to life
- Foster creativity, critical thinking, and problem solving
- Teach collaboration, peer-interaction, and teamwork
- Introduce students to college-level questions, college classrooms, and the college experience
- Open student minds to engineering as a field of study and a profession
- Gain local, state, and national recognition and awards for your students, your school, and the subjects you teach
- Inspire students for life by showing them what's possible in math, science, engineering, and themselves.
Best of all, TEAMS is inexpensive and requires little to no time commitment! While some teams might practice ahead of time, no pre-competition preparation is necessary… meaning all you need to do is show up on competition day. In addition, utilizing TEAMS materials as part of your classroom curriculum can add a new dimension to your lesson plans.
Why Should Your Students Participate?
Students tell us that they participate in TEAMS to:
- Learn from each other and work with friends
- Meet their peers from other schools and acquire "bragging rights" for their school and their skills
- Gain a sense of accomplishment by solving complex problems as a team
- See first-hand what the college experience is like
- Learn how math and science can apply to real life
- Beef up their college applications
- Have fun
